Report of 5th Lakshmanrao Bhide Memorial Lecture

"It is unity (ekta, ekatmata) and not uniformity that matters in Hinduism. The basis for all new ideas and social experiments was the welfare and well-being of whole humanity. It is very difficult to compare Hinduism to other ways of worship as there are fundamental differences in their approach and none is anywhere near comparison" he said. Hinduism seeks to understand the fundamental unity among everything (ekatmata) in creation and appreciates the superficial diversity he remarked. "Hindus are those that have experienced this universal wisdom (anubhooti of ekatmata), practice the same, identify with the whole humanity and accept as well as respect diversity. This is the essence of Hindu Dharma which alone guarantees pluralistic attitude" he concluded.

Ms Shubaga Narasimhan rendered the valedictory vedic prayer.
