Report of 5th Lakshmanrao Bhide Memorial Lecture

Vishwa Adhyayan Kendra (Centre for International Studies) organized the 5th Lakshmanrao Bhide Memorial Lecture on Friday 7th January 2011 at the Alkesh Dinesh Mody Auditorium in Kalina Campus, Vidyanagari, Mumbai.

The function was presided over by Shri Ramesh Sheth, President – Sram Sewa Nyas, Pune and also founder trustee of Uttan Vividh Laksheee Shikshan Sanstha of Keshavsrushti.

Smt. Kirtida Bhatt, Vice President (Retd.) Chase Manhattan Bank, USA and a social worker, was the Chief Guest.

Shri Seshadri Chari, Jt. Director - Institute of National Strategic Studies, New Delhi delivered the memorial lecture on the topic - 'Dharma for fostering Global Pluralism'

Ms Mamata Vora did a fine job by effectively conducting the entire program as the MC.

The program commenced with the melodious rendering of vedic invocation by Ms. Divya Chandiramani.

Shri Sanjay Kelapure, President of the VAK welcomed the gathering and introduced VAK and its various activities. He also presented bouquets to the dignitaries on stage.

Dr. Shankar Tatwawadi, vishwa vibhag samyojak, launched two books viz. 'Secrets of RSS - Demystyfying the Sangh' by Shri Ratan Sharda and 'The Saga of Hindu Emigration' a VAK publication compiled by Shri Ramesh Subramaniam. He also narrated a few inspiring incidences from the life of Late Lakshmanrao Bhide.

Shri Ramesh Sheth who presided over the function as a representative of Keshavsrushti, recalled his long association with Lakshmanrao Bhide and shared a few of the thoughts of Late Lakshmanrao Bhide that he had personally heard from him. He remarked that Shri Bhide ji was a thinker and organizer and had vision of two projects viz. a residential school to impart Bharatiya education to Hindu children from foreign countries and a financial company that would support unique sewa projects in Bharat inspired by Sangh and working for national development.

Smt. Jayashree Bhole introduced Smt. Kirtida Bhatt the Chief Guest. She informed how Smt. Kirtida Bhatt had over two decades very ably pursued her professional career along with being actively associated with Hindu Sevika Samiti in USA.
